OBJECTIVES

Students will:

  • Explore the Seminega survival account from the perspective of individuals who protected, rescued, or stood up for Tutsi during the genocide.

  • Analyze the risk, courage, and moral conviction involved in rescuing others.

  • Examine motivations behind acts of rescue—including faith, conscience, empathy, or personal relationships.

  • Discuss how rescuers resisted propaganda, social pressure, and state violence.

  • Reflect on the significance of honoring rescuers in post-genocide memory.
