Students will:

  • Analyze the psychological and physical toll of prolonged hiding.

  • Discuss the risks taken and sacrifices made by rescuers.

  • Evaluate how networks like Jehovah’s Witnesses supported survival efforts, and how ordinary people worked together to defy violence and save lives.

  • Evaluate the complex moral decisions made under threat of death and discuss what factors enable some people to resist violence and protect others.

  • Consider the failure of international communities to intervene and discuss the lasting impact of that inaction.

  • Reflect on how acts of courage by ordinary people reveal the potential for humanity in even the darkest moments.
